Fv 15 Lian tunnel - Grytøya

LNS has secured a contract to secure one of the stretches of road in Norway most vulnerable to rock falls: the road between Dale and Alvestad on Fv 15 in the Municipality of Harstad.

The Toppen tunnel, which opened in 1996, gave Ytre Grytøy in the Municipality of Harstad a long awaited permanent road connection. However, traffic was routed through an area that is very prone to dangerous rock falls, and there were soon demands that this stretch of road be secured with a tunnel.

In October 2008, the project of securing the road between Dale and Alvestad was initiated. The project involves constructing 600 metres of road above ground and 1.7 kilometres of tunnel; a total of 2.3 kilometres of road. Several dry walls will also be built.
