SILA

On behalf of LKAB, LNS is in the process of constructing the SILA facility in Narvik. This project will provide LKAB with twelve new silos for storing various iron ore products. The silos, which are blasted out of the rock, have a diameter of 38 meters and a depth of 60 meters. The project is massive, and quite unique on a global scale.

PPP E18

LNS is in charge of constructing all seven two-tube tunnels on the new four-lane motorway between Kristiansand and Grimstad. The tunnels have a total length of 12 kilometers, of which the shortest tunnel is 150 meters long and the longest 2.2 kilometers.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Spitsbergen

LNS was responsible for the construction of the UN Global Seed Vault on Spitsbergen. The seed vault is built into the mountains of Spitsbergen, as a safety vault, and comprises tunnels and three rock caverns. The permafrost in the rock surrounding these caverns ensures an even temperature of -18° Celsius.

Kvænangen hydro power project

LNS is the primary contractor for the Boullanjåkka project, which will increase the energy production of Kvænangen hydro power plant by almost ten percent.

Landslides- and avalanche protection for E10 Lofoten

Landslides- and avalanche protection for E10 through Fjøsdalen is one of many projects establishing slide protection measures along the E10 throughout Western Lofoten.

Lofoten Mainland Connection - Lofast

LNS participated in the construction of Lofast, a stretch of road running from Gullesfjordbotn in Vesterålen to Fiskebøl in Lofoten. Lofast is a total of 51 kilometers long and has provided Lofoten connection to the mainland.

The Hem tunnel

During construction of the new E18 between Kopstad and Gulli, LNS was responsible for the Hem tunnel in Tønsberg. As a result of this project, motorists can drive along a continuous motorway between Oslo and Tønsberg.

The Almannaskard tunnel

LNS constructed roads, tunnels and tunnel portals at Höfn on Iceland. The contract was a Joint Venture in collaboration with the Icelandic contractor Heradsverk Ehf.

Korgfjell tunnel

LNS and Mesta were the primary contractors during construction of the Korgfjell tunnel. The tunnel is part of the E6 Osen-Korgen project, which involved constructing a stretch of road and tunnel totaling 13,323 meters.

The Svea tunnel on Spitsbergen

In 2002 LNS secured a contract to construct a new access road for the Svea Nord coal mine; the Svea tunnel, which is 5,800 meters long. The project was developed as a comprehensive package, with project design and planning included as part of the contract.
